What Painting Tools Will You Need?

Tools are an important part of any remodeling project. When painting, spend a few extra dollars to get some good brushes and rollers. They will pay for themselves in a few short hours, as your hand glides the brush into delicate corners and emerges with all the bristles intact.
Otherwise, you risk getting stray bristles stuck in your new paint job, seeing bits and pieces of your roller stuck in the newly painted wall, and a host of other annoyances!
Here's a list of tools you'll need for painting:
- 2-3 brushes -- a 3" straight brush for cutting in corners; a 2" trim brush; and a tapered sash brush for sashes and other angles areas.
- A paint roller and large and small rollers -- also buy quality ones!
- A painting tray
- A ladder and/or smaller step ladder
- Newspaper to use for drying brushes after cleanup
- Old clothes
- A scrapper for smoothing out old paint
- Chemical paint removers, if appropriate
