Want to pamper yourself after a long day of home improvement? The bathroom is the place to start. From radiant floor heat to heated towel bars, there are many products to help pamper your soul.
Consider adding one (or more!) of these products:
A
Whirlpool Tub
Sounds basic these days, but there are many styles to choose from. Some even have lumbar support and jets that massage the back of your neck. They are priced from $1,000 to $3,000.
At the top of the price list is Jacuzzi's Vizion tub, which a 10-inch flat television screen, underwater lighting, and a DVD and compact disc player. The price is about $20,000.
Shower
Accessories
In shower stalls, there are products ranging from body massaging sprays that cost about $1,500 to steam showers that cost $20,000 or more. Those who just want more flexibility might consider a (more reasonably priced) hand held shower spray with several water flow settings. These are ideal for rinsing off a small child or the family pet.
Radiant
Heat
If you share our fear of walking out of the shower or tub and stepping onto a cold floor, then radiant heat is for you. While a throw rug will help cushion your step, it will not raise the floor temperature to a toasting 75 degrees.
This system is installed under the floor and is connected to the main heating system. It runs on its own thermostat. This is a great solution for those who like the looks of ceramic tile, but dislike the cool surface. The cost is about $2,000, depending on the dimensions.
Try this in your kitchen, too!
Electric
Heating Units
Or, consider having electric heat installed at the bottom of a vanity cabinet. The cost -- about $300 -- is more reasonable. It has its own control switch and would provide enough heat to warm your toes while you are shaving or applying makeup. It won't warm the entire room, however.
Fog
Free Mirrors!
As you contemplate standing on that warm floor and gazing in the mirror, consider whether you want to be brushing aside steam. There's no need with a fog free mirror. The price is $100 to $500, depending on the size and design.
Towel
Warmers
If you want toasty towels, look for heated towel bars, which are priced from $300 to $1,000 per bar.
