Warranty Tips

What's your contractor's warranty? Make sure you ask before signing a contract.
Look for at least a one year warranty on the contractor's work and longer terms from some manufacturers. Floors, appliances, countertops and other products often include 1 to 10 year warranties, depending on the manufacturer.
Any contract you sign should list the name and address of the person supplying the warranty and the time period it covers.
Also:
- If the warranty is limited in any way, those details should be listed in the contract
- You should receive documentation of the warranty terms for any new products the contractor installs
