If your kitchen layout hasn't changed in the past 40 years, you're in for a treat. As you remodel, consider all the new ways to make your kitchen design more convenient.
Your new kitchen layout will let you glide from casserole to quiche and make your time in the kitchen that much better.
Kitchen Design and Layout Are The Keys
A well-designed kitchen can go a long way towards making the cook happy. As you plan a kitchen remodeling, think about your current kitchen design. Ask yourself:- How functional is the space?
- Do you have enough kitchen cabinet storage and the right size and shape cabinets?
- How does your kitchen flow?
- Is the kitchen sink in the right location?
Add Convenience Features To Kitchen Design
As you consider convenience, look at your kitchen cabinet layout. Ideally, you want a design that helps you flow through the kitchen with ease. Look for:- A layout that groups cooking areas together
- At least 36-inches space between the countertop and cooking areas
- Plenty of cabinets for storage
- A pantry for storing canned goods
- An island for seating, cooking, and eating
- A kitchen sink that is big enough for the pots and pans you wash and rinse
Kitchen Cabinets Come Stocked With Features
With all the selection in kitchen cabinets today, it's easy to find a host of convenience features. Among the popular ones are:- Roll out drawers in base cabinets. These are ideal for storing pots and pans.
- Spice racks built into a wall cabinet or as a separate three to six-inch mini-cabinet next to the stove.
- A base cabinet with a mixer shelf that raises and lowers.
- Lazy Susan shelving units in corner cabinets.
Kitchen Appliances Designed For Convenience
Nothing bothers the cook more than kitchen appliances that do not work properly. The oven that burns casseroles and the gas burner that doesn?t stay lit can cause a host of trouble when you cook. During a kitchen remodeling, look for appliances with these features:- A memory feature that allows you to save recipes and cooking instructions.
- Computerized timers and heating elements.
- "Delay start" features that allow you to program the dishwasher to start washing at a designated time.
- A refrigerator with a wine chilling feature or a sophisticated ice-making component.
Your new kitchen layout will let you glide from casserole to quiche and make your time in the kitchen that much better.
