If you just can't find an exterior wall for a
fireplace, consider the vent-free models that can be placed anywhere.
In recent years, many manufacturers have added vent-free fireplaces to tap into the market of people who want a fireplace but do not have an exterior wall available. Those in condominiums are prime candidates for these types of fireplaces, as it is not always feasible to vent a fireplace through an exterior wall in multi-family buildings.
These vent-free designs, which are priced from $3,000 to $5,000, add lots of flexibility for adding fireplaces in:
· Bedrooms
·
Bathrooms
· Any interior rooms of a home
· The center of any room
· An entertainment center
·
A kitchen
island
A Warning
Check with your local fire department or municipality. Vent-free fireplaces are not allowed in some parts of the country because of concerns over the amount of heat they produce, condensation issues, and other factors.
