Lining up the vinyl siding repair is important, and the use of a carpenters square is highly recommended.

Vinyl siding is highly influenced by the climate. During extreme cold vinyl siding becomes quite brittle and contracts. During warmer climates it is much more pliable, even melting at some higher temperatures. Making repairs during a mild climate is best.
