Start with Granite Countertops
New kitchen countertops can make a big difference in your kitchen design. Among the popular options are granite countertops, which add a sophisticated look. Granite countertops are sold in many colors, from black to cream, white and green. Other options include:- Laminate countertops in a variety of patterns, including some that mimic granite countertops.
- Solid-surface countertops, which are seamless and built with an integral kitchen sink.
- Ceramic tile countertops.
- Butcher-block countertops, which are ideal as secondary counters in chopping or baking areas.
Add Kitchen Sink
A new kitchen sink can help pull the countertop design together and complement your existing cabinets. Most kitchen sinks are priced from $75 to $500, depending on the material, size, and finish. Among the trendy options are:- Farm sinks, which have an exposed apron front and a large single bowl.
- Double bowl stainless steel sinks mounted under the countertop. This adds a sleek look, particularly under a granite countertop.
- Large single bowl sinks for washing large pots and pans.
Coordinate with a Kitchen Faucet
When buying a kitchen sink, it often makes sense to also buy a kitchen faucet. Faucets are priced from $50 to $400 or more, with many high-quality faucets priced around $150. Look for a ceramic disc cartridge for added durability. Among the options are:- White single-handle faucets with built-in sprayers.
- Double-handle faucets in fancy aged bronze or copper finishes.
- Stainless-steel faucets to blend with commercial appliances.
Try a Hardwood Floor
Next add a hardwood floor as the finishing touch on this kitchen remodeling project. If your cabinets are oak, try adding an oak hardwood floor to coordinate. Or, consider:- A cherry floor to add a contrast to your kitchen design.
- An oak hardwood floor with a dark stain.
- An oak hardwood floor with a cherry or mahogany border or accent area. The dark border will add some contrast to the kitchen design and be a conversation piece.
