Looking for a Kitchen
Sink?
Here's what to consider:
- Size -- This is determined by your sink base cabinet?
- Number of Bowls -- one, two, three? Think about how you use the sink,
how much space you want in each opening
- Material -- Do you want stainless steel, cast iron, solid
surface?
- Design-- Fancy or simple . . . etched designs or a smooth
surface?
- Color -- White and almond are big sellers, but there are
also bold colors, such as red, blue, yellow and black
Undermount or Over?
Many of the new kitchen sink designs are made as “undermount” models that are installed below the edge of the countertop instead of having a lip that rises over the edge of the countertop.
The advantage?
Food items can be pushed from the countertop into the sink without getting trapped between the lip of the sink and the countertop.
Also, there is no caulk to apply between the lip of the sink and the countertop, and water will not seep through the crevice and damage the countertop. As you’re clearing the dishes, you’re may get water on the counter. All you have to do is slide it off into the sink.
Accessories
Also think about a few accessories:
- A vegetable sprayer, which also helps with rinsing pots and pans
- A soap dispenser
- A built-in cutting board
- A water filtering system
