How to Soften the Look of Stainless

One disadvantage to using stainless steel in the bathroom is the cold look and feel of the metal.
Those who like the traditional look of porcelain sinks and antique brass faucets might not be comfortable with the stark look of stainless steel. It typically is used in contemporary room designs, which are characterized by sleek, clean lines.
There are ways to soften the look and
expand it beyond a contemporary design theme, however. Try adding other
materials and textures, such as:
- a natural stone, colorful glass or wooden countertop
- tumbled marble floor tiles
- textured pattern in ceramic wall or floor tile
- paint in warm tones or textures
- a touch of porcelain on the handles of a satin nickel
faucet
- art that adds an Old World charm
