Gardening With Hostas
Renovators Place Columnist
Oct 08, 2009
Hostas are a favorite perennial, as they do well in shade,
have interesting leaf patterns and are easy to maintain.
These plants have thick leaves and many have flowering spires in white, lavender, and pale violet that reach above the leaves. Some will grow to three feet. They bloom from summer to early fall. Why not combine two or three and mix them in a shady spot?
Consider adding them:
·
As ground cover under trees
·
As edgings for walkways and driveways
·
In a raised flower bed
Hostas prefer well drained soil and can survive hot
spells. Many will perform just as well in sun, but keep the water coming.
