Finding the Right Proportion with Tile

Proportion
is important when selecting tile. Consider your room:
·
How
large is the room?
·
Is
the look sleek or does it have
lots of ornate woodwork or other
details?
·
How much attention do you want to create in the backsplash area?
·
Is there a window along the wall? If so, you'll need a tile that looks good in the small
space under the window, as well as in larger spaces. When properly designed,
the smaller sections can enhance the design without getting lost under the
window.
A large kitchen
or bathroom, for example, might have an industrial-size oven or a large
whirlpool tub and shower area. In those scenarios, you can add several feet of
bold tile to help accentuate that area.
If the room
design is more subtle, look for tile that creates an accent without
overpowering the space.
