Here's a sampling of new appliances:
Top Loading Dryer
Fisher & Pykel introduced SmartLoad, the first full sized top-loading clothes dryer. This is designed to save your ailing back from all that bending. The machine also has reverse tumbling to help reduce creasing and tangling and a self cleaning lint screen!
A
Cool Range
The Polara refrigerated range from Whirlpool. The 30-inch range is designed for those busy home owners who want to defrost and cook a meal in one location.
Just slide your pan of lasagna in the range while it's in the cooling mode and program it to do the rest. Your meal will defrost, then cook and be ready when you get home from work.
The range sells for $1,799 to $1,899.
The
Combo Washer and Dryer
LG Electronics, a Korean-based manufacturer, introduced a washer and dryer combination that will wash, rinse and dry in one machine. "You put your load in and it will weigh how heavy the load is and, with the push of one button, you can turn it on and go do your errands or watch a movie," said Jae Park, a brand manager for the company.
The 15-pound capacity "Senseclean" machine allows for easy cleaning of bulky items, such as curtains and blankets. The units are being made in silver and stainless steel colors.
The machine is designed for people in small spaces, such as city condo dwellers or those in apartments, as it requires less space than two machines. The downside? The entire cycle takes about three hours. The price is $1,499.
Peak
Through the Glass Door
Wondering what's inside your refrigerator? Tired of watching the kids open and close the door throughout the day? Sub-Zero now has a refrigerator with commercial-style glass doors, along with electronic controls to maintain temperature settings.
The appliance has 19.9 cubic feet of storage, which allows extra room to compensate for not having storage on the inside of the door. It is available with several interior lighting options for those who want to soften the view of what's on their shelves. The price is $4,229 to $4,505.
